Integrating Climate Change into Strategic Planning for Public & Private Sector Organizational Leaders
This three-part virtual training series is designed to build a foundational understanding of the risks and opportunities that climate change poses for Michigan state/local government agencies, infrastructure organizations and businesses. The program will examine the impacts of climate change upon mission, operations and constituents, as well as prospective opportunities to advance readiness and solutions grounded in economic vitality, public health and security. Participants will hear presentations from nationally and regionally recognized experts and government officials, as well as engage in facilitated exercises and interactive discussions.

Session #1 – Climate Fundamentals & Implications for Michigan and the Great Lakes Region
This opening session explores the fundamentals of climate change and how it impacts communities and businesses. Presenters will discuss the implications on Michigan and the Great Lakes region, with a focus on critical infrastructure resilience, as well as access to and usage of natural resources. Participants will share their own experiences and participate in breakout discussions with the instructor team.

Session #2 – Climate Implications for Health, Equity & Economic Vitality
The series continues exploring the economic and public health implications of climate change. Presenters then examine the intersection of climate change with justice, equity and ethics, as well as the organizational transformation needed in the context of governance, organizational culture and workforce capacity. Participants will also hear insights on how to account for budget impacts and tools and practices for informing financial planning.

Session #3 – Risk Management & Enterprise Readiness
